➕UNDERSTANDING EMISSIONS AND CALCULATIONS
Where does the emissions data in Qondor come from?
Where does the emissions data in Qondor come from?
The sustainability data in Qondor’s reporting tool is powered by SQUAKE, our trusted partner and supplier for emissions data and methodologies. SQUAKE is globally recognised and actively supports both Qondor and our customers, so you can feel confident in the quality and reliability of the calculations.
How is emissions data calculated?
How is emissions data calculated?
Emissions data in Qondor is calculated using recognised methodologies and real-time data from SQUAKE’s emissions database. These methodologies define how different activities, such as travel or accommodation are converted into CO₂e values.
The accuracy of the calculations also depends on the information entered by the Project Manager in Qondor, such as number of travellers, transport type, or distances. The more precise the input, the more accurate the result.
What are methodologies?
What are methodologies?
Methodologies are the calculation standards used to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions. They ensure accuracy and consistency in sustainability reporting.
Different countries or industries may have preferred or required methodologies, and Qondor’s reporting is aligned with widely recognised standards to support credible, comparable results.
Can you help us with setting the correct methodologies for our customers?
Can you help us with setting the correct methodologies for our customers?
You're in control of the methodologies used. Qondor provides flexibility so you can define both your default methodology settings and tailor them per report if a specific receiver has unique requirements. This ensures the reports align with your standards or theirs.
Why does switching between methodologies change emissions results significantly?
Why does switching between methodologies change emissions results significantly?
Different methodologies use different data sources and assumptions for what’s included in the calculation. Some are designed for specific countries or industries and may include extra percentages to account for uncertainty or meet local requirements. Because of these differences, switching methodology can lead to noticeably higher or lower CO₂e values for the same activity.
What is the difference between CO₂ and CO₂e?
What is the difference between CO₂ and CO₂e?
CO₂ stands for carbon dioxide, a naturally occurring gas and the most common greenhouse gas emitted by human activities. It’s one of several greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.
CO₂e stands for carbon dioxide equivalent. It’s a standard way to express the total greenhouse gas emissions that combines the impact of CO₂ plus other greenhouse gases (like methane and nitrous oxide), based on how much they warm the planet.
By converting all greenhouse gases into CO₂e, we can report emissions in one comparable, easy-to-understand number.
Why is there a significant difference between estimates?
Why is there a significant difference between estimates?
Different methodologies can produce very different CO₂ or CO₂e estimates for the same activity. This is because each methodology is based on varying assumptions, data sources and levels of detail, such as whether they include non-CO₂ effects like contrails, which are factored in using a Radiative Forcing Index (RFI).
What is RFI (Radiative Forcing Index)?
What is RFI (Radiative Forcing Index)?
RFI is a multiplier used in some flight emissions calculations. It accounts for non-CO₂ effects like contrails and other gases that also contribute to global warming. While non-CO₂ effects don’t contain carbon dioxide, they still act as climate-warming factors which is why they're included in some emissions calculations.
📄USING QONDOR FOR SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING
What is a category in sustainability reporting in Qondor?
What is a category in sustainability reporting in Qondor?
A category helps group your products or items based on the type of service provided, such as Transportation, Accommodation & venue, Food & beverage or Other. These categories are used to calculate and display emissions data in your sustainability report.
Do I need to calculate anything manually?
Do I need to calculate anything manually?
Qondor automatically calculates emissions for the categories it supports, so no manual work needed there.
For anything outside those categories, you will need to input values manually using the "Manual" option. If your supplier has provided an actual figure, we recommend entering the figures provided rather than using auto-calculation.
Why add all items to the report if I don't have the emissions values?
Why add all items to the report if I don't have the emissions values?
We recommend adding all items to the report even if you do not know the emissions data figures and Qondor can't calculate it. This allows for transparency and helps create the best possible report. While the emissions is most important, it's also useful to have an overview of what actually adds to the emission data even when actual numbers are unavailable.
Can I do climate nudging in the current solution?
Can I do climate nudging in the current solution?
Yes. You can create separate items for each travel leg, for example, one for a flight from Oslo to Barcelona and one for a train from Oslo to Gothenburg. This lets you show emissions for each alternative individually and helps customers understand the climate impact of their choices.
Climate nudging means encouraging more climate-friendly choices by changing how options are presented.
Is it possible to report across multiple reports for customers with more than one project per year?
Not yet. Each project currently generates its own individual report. We plan to support yearly reports in the future, as we know this is important for customers with multiple projects.

📨SENDING & SHARING REPORTS
Who receives sustainability reports?
Who receives sustainability reports?
Sustainability reports are typically sent to someone like a Sustainability manager or director, Chief Financial officer or whoever is responsible for receiving the final event report. You can add the recipient when sending the report.
When should I send a sustainability report?
When should I send a sustainability report?
It’s up to you decide when to generate and send the report. So far, we've found users would prefer to do this after the event, once all data is confirmed, but Qondor gives you the flexibility to deliver reports at any stage that fits your sustainability or communication strategy.
Should my organisation charge to provide reports? If so, how much?
Should my organisation charge to provide reports? If so, how much?
It’s completely up to you. You may choose to include sustainability reporting as a value-added service or offer it at an extra cost. We recommend aligning it with your overall pricing strategy.

📌EXTRA NOTES FOR FULL-PLATFORM QONDOR USERS
How do I set up transport products? Is it one line per direction? What about return trips?
How do I set up transport products? Is it one line per direction? What about return trips?
Set up one line per direction. For example, one item for the outbound trip and another for the return. This helps ensure emissions are calculated correctly.
We’re looking into improving how return trips are handled in the future.
We use Amadeus to import flight data into our sales offers. Will all information from Amadeus be imported into the report?
We use Amadeus to import flight data into our sales offers. Will all information from Amadeus be imported into the report?
Not necessarily. Only information linked to the transport products in Qondor will be included, specifically the segments when setting up the product.
For example, flight class (like economy or business) may be included in the Amadeus import, but this field isn’t imported into the sustainability report by default.
Economy is used as the default, however you can manually input it if needed.
