Written by Nitu Kaur Sabbharwal

Time budgets help you plan how much time should be spent on a project. By comparing budgeted hours with actual logged hours, you can monitor progress and identify potential overruns early.

Add a time budget

To add a time budget to a project:

  1. Open the project.

  2. Click Time.

  3. You'll land on the Time budget tab.

  4. Click Add role.

  5. Select a role.

  6. Choose a VAT article.

  7. Enter the budgeted hours.

  8. Click Save.

πŸ’‘ The VAT article is pre-selected based on your office settings. You can select a different VAT article from the dropdown if needed.

Monitor budget usage

As time is logged against the project, the Time budget page updates automatically. You can compare budgeted hours with actual logged hours and monitor progress throughout the project.

You can view:

  • Budget (h) – the budgeted hours

  • Logged (h) – the hours already logged

  • Usage (%) – how much of the budget that has been used.

  • Remaining budget – the budget still available.

Good to know

πŸ’‘ Usage is displayed visually, making it easy to see when a role is approaching or exceeding its budget.

πŸ’‘ The Total row shows combined figures for all roles on the project.

πŸ’‘ You can update a budget at any time by clicking the pencil icon next to the budgeted hours.
